Ayurveda is an ancient science & it is a part of Atharvaveda. Agadtantra
is a specialized branch of Ayurveda which deals with detailed description of
animate and in animate poisons with reference to their sources, properties, toxic
symptoms and treatment. Human beings found the antidotes for harmful plants
and animal poisons.
In modern era also it is documented that death due to poisoning is being
major problem all over world; it is being a significant global public health
problem.
Agadtantra is a branch of Ayurveda which deals with the symptoms and
treatment of various animal, plant, artificial and latent poisons.
Medicine and law walk hand in hand from ancient time, to protect the
community from the irresponsible acts of unqualified medical practitioners and
quacks.
Looking forward by this aspect the forensic medicine which deals with
the appication of medical and paramedical scientific knowledge for both civil &
criminal law in order to aid administration of justice is included in forensic
medicine.
The department of Agadtantra is established in December 2024 in our
college at Khutalwadi. CBDC curriculum is run by the department for IInd year
BAMS students as per NCISM norms.
The students are trained in both forensic medicine & toxicology by
Theory and Practical classes. Practical training in postmostem procedure in
varieties of medicolegal cases will be done in collaboration with government
hospital.
We are running OPD under Agadtantra where varieties of poisoning cases
are treated.
Visit to other college Agadtantra department, snake park will be
organised for the students. Students will be taken to nearby forensic science
laboratory at kolhapur.
The department is well equiped with weapons, poison set, instruments
and specimens and charts as per the requirement from NCISM.
The department fulfill the norms laid down by governing bodies.
